To celebrate five years since the opening of our full time dojo in Wellington, on Sunday 29th March 2026 we are delighted to be hosting Steve Carless Sensei, 6th Dan. Steve Sensei will be overseeing Kyu gradings for our members in the morning, followed by a special anniversary seminar for intermediate to advanced grades in the afternoon.​

The seminar is open to all, irrespective of style, association or affiliation.

Steve Sensei is the founder and Chief Instructor of the highly successful Walsall Karate Dojo, and has more than 45 years experience in Shotokan Karate. In 2014 he successfully graded to JKS 6th Dan under Masao Kagawa Shihan in Tokyo, Japan. He is a decorated competitor, having won his first British championship back in 1996 — a long chain of success and many individual kata and kumite titles followed. His karate is innovative, engaging, and mind-bendingly flexible; in short, this is not one to be missed!
